Hummingbird Lake
Sometimes you have to wonder why some lakes get names and some don't. Some do get names probably because some old time hard drinkin' horse packin' fisherman was able to find it in the first place. This lake is deserving of a name although after close examination I was hard pressed to find anything that suggested people had ever been there, despite good places to camp. Access is one problem. Coming up the valley to the north was hard work, but not dangerous. Getting down from this lake to Crown Basin was a bit tricky with only one really good (steep) route that I could find. It takes real work to get to this lake, but perfect solitude in a Sierra jewel is your reward.
