Rae Lake
It is interesting there are at least two Rae Lakes in the Sierra, and both are beautiful. It is very easy walking on good trails from Hell For Sure Pass to Rae Lake. The trail between these two points is fairly easy, crossing high meadows and a very low ridge. You may be hard pressed to find the old trail to Dale Lake, and cross country may be the prefered mode of travel to get there. A trail junction is reached in a large meadow, and after leaving the meadow, the trail climbs somewhat sharply, depending on how tired you are at that point. Rae Lake has excellent camps for backpackers and horsepackers alike. Horsemen will like the vast grazing areas nearby for stock and camps on the north shore, and backpackers will enjoy secluded perfect camping sites on the south shore.
