Battalion Lake and the Unnamed Peak
It always blows me away. Here is a lake above 11,000 feet, with a beautiful impressive peak soaring above reaching 12,000+ feet. I would be honored beyond belief if a mountain half as grand were named after me, and here is this gloriously monstrous peak with no name, and often no altitude listed. I have seen pathetic mounds of dirt with inflated names get far more attention than this noble rock. If this mountain were in the eastern U.S., people from miles around would travel long distances to see this mountain, yet here it stands and few will visit it. This is wilderness irony. I have an affinity with this mountain. For me this is my mountain.
